Message From The Rector

Brothers and Sisters Grace and Peace to you,

We are presently experiencing a crisis of a magnitude we have never seen before. The presence of the Corona virus, the way it is transmitted and the debilitating effect cause us to feel fearful and anxious. The Ministry of Health has advised us to practice “social distancing“, washing of hands and staying home as necessary at this time. Our faith in the God of Jesus Christ must be our anchor and our hope. The Psalmist states “God is our refuge and strength, a well-tried help in trouble” (Ps.46:1). The Psalmist assures us that the God of hope is the one who abides with us in every crisis of life.

In all the adversities of the past God’s people have been able to endure not just through their own efforts, but also, they have been able to face the crisis with the assurance that God’s presence is with them to uphold them and give them the spiritual resilience and emotional strength to endure. It is God’s presence that provides stability, fortitude and hope which will enable us to weather this storm. The God who suffered in Jesus and raised Him from the dead is more than able to see us through this crisis. So let us not weaver or feel overwhelmed by any threat of danger, be it in nature or the environment, as God’s power made known in the resurrection of Jesus, is the source of our faith, healing and hope.

Our experience of God’s sustaining presence in times of crises and distress is affirmed by the psalmist who states that, God has a proven track record as it pertains to any threat to the health and well-being of God’s people. Let us hold fast to the assurance of Jesus who says, “I am with you always” (Mt 28:20b). In this we have the guarantee, that we are held in divine hands, and the grace and the Spirit of God abides and indwell us always.

Due to COVID-19 and the government restrictions pertaining to public gathering endorsed by our Diocesan Bishop, service on Sunday will be via live stream only. Please join us at 8:00 a.m. or any time after using this Live Stream link.

Arrangements have been made for tithes and offering to be lodged directly to the church’s account using electronic banking (see details here).

Thanks for your support and let us continue to lift up our country, our church and each other in our prayers.

Prayer for a world afflicted with COVID-19

Lord Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents us from working together and neighbors from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from despair. Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected as they put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
