Quote for Reflection (Sunday, February 23, 2025)
“Baptism, with the laying on of hands (Confirmation) as its normal completion, is the first significant event for a Christian. It declares that the beginning of a person’s Christianity is not what he or she feels or experiences, but rather what God in Christ has done for them. Their feelings, experiences and virtues have meaning not in themselves, but as bearing witness to the one Body in which alone the individual can grow to their full humanity. For the life of Christians is a continual response to the fact of their baptism: they continually learn that they have died and risen with Christ, and that their life is a part of the life of the one Christian family.”
