Quote for Reflection (Sunday, May 28, 2023)
“Contrary to the prophets of doom, God will not allow the world to selfdestruct. God is saying to us that the course of self-destruction can be changed only by our hearts, by our hands, by our minds. Christ’s glory is still waiting to be revealed in the work he has given us. Above everything else, Pentecost means accepting responsibility for that work. This is what the writer of Acts of the Apostle suggests in his opening chapter. The disciples wanted to know if they had arrived at the moment when the Lord would establish the kingdom. The risen Lord said to them that it wasn’t for them to know, but that ‘you will receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you.’”
