Quote for Reflection (Sunday, March 5, 2023)

“The liturgy helps in our formation by teaching us words and forms of praise and prayer that we can use day by day. The mechanism of repetition aids the learning process. The frequent repetition of sections of Scripture, Psalms, Canticles, and prayers become part of the working knowledge for a person’s faith. They are used in spontaneous prayer and praise, in times of need and times of joy. They become a resource for the believer of material that is learned by heart for use from the heart…It is the same learning principle as repeating the ‘times table’ – it becomes a tool and piece of knowledge that is firmly anchored and stable, stored for use when necessary.”
