Quote for Reflection (Sunday, September, 26, 2021)
“Evil was experienced as something very real and tangible in the ancient world. It should therefore not surprise us if the evangelists use “religious” words to describe what Jesus did in the face of sickness, demon possession, and exploitation….In at least eighteen cases the evangelists use it with reference to Jesus’ healing of the sick. Thus there is, in Jesus’ ministry, no tension between saving from sin and saving from physical ailment, between the spiritual and the social.”
