Did You Know? (Sunday, February 7, 2021)

“The sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive that grace (BCP; p108). We use many things to signify an inner meaning, such as flags, paper money, words, or shaking hands. A sacrament is such an act or sign, given us by Christ or ordained by the church according to guidance of the Holy Spirit. We can receive God’s grace in other ways, but since the sacraments are ordained by God, they are a pledge and an assurance that through them we may receive God’s grace”.
