Did you know? (Sunday, May 12, 2024)

On July 21st of this year, all our churches from across our Diocese will gather at the National Arena for a service of thanksgiving commemorating the 200th Anniversary of our Diocese. The preacher for this special occasion will be Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury. As the senior bishop and spiritual leader of the Church of England, the Archbishop holds a position of immense responsibility. While the Archbishop does not have direct authority over other bishops or provinces within the larger Anglican Communion and beyond, they serve as a significant figure in guiding the church’s spiritual direction, engaging in diplomatic efforts, and advocating for justice and reconciliation. Currently, discussions are underway within the Anglican Communion regarding not making the spiritual leader of the Church of England the automatic symbolic head of the Communion.
