Did you know? (Sunday, April 30, 2023)
The Easter Anthem known as the “Pascha Nostrum” (Christ our Passover) is to be found on pages 37 and 64 of our Prayer Book. It is based on 1 Corinthians 5:7-8, Romans 6:9-11, and 1 Corinthians 15:20-22. It was put together by Archbishop Cranmer for the first Book of Common Prayer (1549), and was to be used as the initial song of praise in the Anglican rite for Easter Day. Today, it is customary for this canticle to be used instead of the Gloria in Excelsis from Easter Day to Pentecost.
