A plaque with a listing of the 10 Commandments is to be found behind the altar in this Church! The 10 Commandments is also known as the “Decalogue.” It is displayed in many of our older churches. So are the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostles’ Creed. This is an 18th century practice that developed in European countries such as England. According to our church’s catechism, the 10 Commandments provides the clearest summary of what God desires of us. They “were given to define our relationship with God and our neighbours” (BCP 391).
