Happy New (Church) Year! One of the themes of Advent is hope. It’s a hope that’s not just characteristic of human beings but of the wider creation. Romans 8:19 tells us that “All Creation waits with eager longing” for the deeper connection with God that the birth of Jesus brings. As we prepare our homes and hearts in the Season of Advent, then, it is also appropriate for us to prepare by caring for God’s Creation, as an expression of our shared hope.
