Did you know? (Sunday, May 1, 2022)
Throughout Eastertide, Anglicans take a break from reading a text from the Old Testament at Masses (and at Morning Prayer on Sundays). Instead, we read from Acts of the Apostles, a book that shows us how the first communities of Jesus were formed and how they lived as people of the resurrection. Luke, the author of the book, shows us how these communities spread outward, beginning in Jerusalem, then moving into Judea, Samaria, and ultimately to the wider world. One of the questions scholars debate is whether what we find in Acts primarily describes what the early Christians did, or prescribes for us what we must do today.
