Did You Know (Sunday, January 9, 2022)

Epiphany is one of the oldest Christian celebrations. It commemorates the earliest manifestation of God in and through Jesus. It is even a more ancient feast day than Christmas. It was a much more bigger feast day, too. In fact, Christ’s birth was originally celebrated in Epiphany. As time progressed, however, a different time was assigned for the celebration of Christ birth. In the Christian West, from which our Church tradition is more directly linked, the Epiphany centres on the visit of the three Wise Ones to the infant Jesus. Their visit is interpreted as signalling that the Jewish Messiah comes to save all humankind.
