Did you Know? (Sunday, December 26, 2021)

It is appropriate to keep our Christmas trees and other Christmassy decorations up until the 2nd of February when we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This is true because Christmastide lasts for a period of forty days. This means, Christmas, like Lent and Easter, has the same number of days. In the Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Roman Catholic traditions, Advent also lasts for forty days. The days from the Feast of the Nativity (Christmas Day) to the Epiphany (6th January) are known as “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
