St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the environment. He expressed his devotion to God through the attention and care he gave to all of God’s creatures. Francis insisted that everything God made are siblings – members of a single-family – and, as such, they should be treated with respect, dignity and care. Francis’ love for the environment is shared by many of the saints.
