The word “steward” was created around the 1700s. Originally, it was a domestic term that referred to someone who was responsible for bringing food or drink into the dining room. Later, it came to mean the “manager” of a large household or of an organisation. For Christians, it came to mean all of us are managers of the resources God has given to us. These include our time, gifts, talents, money, material possessions and the environment.
