Did You Know? (Sunday, March 14, 2021)

“Records from the third century tell us that candidates wishing to enter the community were brought to the community teacher and presented for acceptance into the church. The sponsors had to testify personally to the goodness of the candidates and their sincere desire to become Christians. The community was particular about whom it accepted, since the good example of the member’s lives was their primary way of showing what Jesus was like or explaining the message he had proclaimed. Community witness was their most powerful tool for spreading the gospel.”
