Did you Know? (Sunday, February 23, 2020)
There are two traditions about the location of the Mount of Transfiguration. One tradition identifies it as Mount Tabor, south of the region of Galilee, on the northern edge of the Jezreel Valley. The other tradition, and probably more likely one, is that Mount Hermon is the site of the transfiguration. It is in the far north – north of where Caesarea Philippi is situated. For certain
Bible scholars, it would make sense for the transfiguration to take place in this region, since this was where (1) Jesus had been ministering, and (2) Peter had made his confession of Jesus.
