Did you Know? (Sunday, December 15, 2019)

In ancient times purple dye was very expensive, and so the colour was a symbol of wealth, power and royalty. Consequently, royal purple is the colour used by the church during the season of Advent, to depict Jesus’ kingship as we await His coming again in glory. On the third Sunday of Advent, however, a lighter shade of purple is used in some traditions, to represent a time of ‘joy’ in the midst of our waiting.
