How many illnesses are the direct cause of suppressed hatred, anger, jealousy, bitterness, guilt? How much high blood pressure, how many ulcers, how much colitis would be avoided if sinful attitudes were done away with? How many pollution-caused deaths occur because people care more for the bottom line than for other people? How many “emotional problems” or “mental breakdowns” owe something to a background where the individual never enjoyed the security of love and discipline in equal doses, or never felt forgiveness for some gross sin?”
