Quote for Reflection (Sunday, November 24, 2019)
There is an old saying that in each heart there is a crown and a cross. If my old selfish nature with all its sinful tendencies is calling the shots, then Jesus to all intents and purposes remains on the cross. But if I deliberately ask him to wear the crown in my life and direct my desires and my actions, then he can be relied on to keep that troublesome old nature in the place where it belongs, the place of death. It is all part of the dying and rising to life which our baptism pointed to long ago, but it has to be deliberately undertaken day by day.
