“The light that has come into the world is not a star but the person of Jesus. This Light, Jesus himself, still shines upon all people, revealing either a darker side of the human heart or the radiance of God’s glory. From the very birth this Light arouses one to be “greatly troubled” or “overjoyed”. The Light is a welcoming, peaceful warmth to which we surrender and are overjoyed. The light also thickens the darkness and makes the contrast between goodness and evil that much more magnified. Those who choose to recognize the Light are drawn to give homage and open the gifts of their heart. Those who choose darkness face a path of trouble and destruction.
