Did you know? (Sunday, February 13, 2022)

This year is the 360th anniversary of the 1664 Book of Common Prayer. This Prayer Book was published one year before Jamaica became an English colony. It has served as the Prayer Book of our Diocese until we published our own Prayer Book in 1995. Speaking of the 1662 Prayer Book, the preface to our new Prayer Book says, “Many of us have grown to love it, and some persons will use no other book but that one when they participate in corporate worship.” The Prayer Book is an expression of our Anglican commitment to living in community. As such, our life of prayer and worship is shaped, not by individual or personal tastes, but by community agreement and commitment.
