Beloved Friends,

There are certain times in our lives that we never forget; they live with us and shape our thoughts and actions. These times are truly valuable to us. They provide support and motivation as we face the challenges and issues of life. Time spent with Jesus at the sanctuary is essential to our wellbeing.

Jesus is that fountain from which our thirsty souls drink, the beacon which illuminates the shadows of our emotional and spiritual darkness, and our relationship with him is fostered at St Andrew Parish Church. We oftentimes come to this sacred place from the business and busyness of life, to find here the eternal sustenance to shape us and fill us to do the work of Christ. As we journey together as a community, our responsibility is to effectively build the Kingdom of God from the model of Jesus' life.

We participate in God's Kingdom through the use of our time and resources, in caring for those in need; this is the basis of our Christian Ministry. Prof. Cheryl J. Saunders gives us a practical application through this quotation:

"One is qualified to enter that Kingdom by exercising good stewardship of life itself, by ministering life out of the abundance one receives as a divine trust from God. Eternal life is the reward of those who cherish life, those who feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in the stranger, clothe the naked, and visit the sick and incarcerated - become identified with the in-breaking of God's Kingdom in the world and move with God in the realm of human affairs."

For us to disobey this mandate of Jesus, means that we are denying our allegiance to Christ and his Kingdom. (Read Matthew 25: 31-46) Our commitment to God who has saved us through our Lord Jesus and his Church, is visibly demonstrated through our presence and presents. Both are required at this time to facilitate the advancing of our Ministry here at St Andrew Parish Church. In this regard we are asking for your support through the use of the special envelopes which will be received as a second offering on the first Sunday of each month.

Prayers Of Intercession

Lord, we wait, we watch, we long for you.
Renew our strength, refresh our spirits, restore our well-being,
For you give new strength to the faint and power to the powerless.
May your church be found working among those who lack resources or rights.
May we seek to care for those who cannot care for themselves.
We pray for the lowly and the humiliated.
We pray for relief organizations, especially ………….
Lord , be to them a tower of strength. Great are you, O Lord.
All: and mighty is your power.
Leader: We pray for the great powers of the world, the strong nations, and mighty governments:
may their power be used properly that the poor are protected, the weak are not exploited, and no one is oppressed.
We remember those who have accepted poverty and vulnerability for the sake of others.
Lord, be to them a tower of strength. Great are you, O Lord,
All: and mighty is your power.
Leader: We give thanks for all who have cared for us in times of weakness, for those who have uplifted our spirits and given us new hope, We pray for our friends and loved ones, especially those who are finding life difficult at this time.
We pray for any in our community that may feel neglected or rejected.
Lord, be to them a tower of strength. Great are you, O Lord,
All: and mighty is your power.
Leader: We pray for all who are in weakness of body, mind or spirit, all who have come to the end of their own resources.
We remember all who are losing their mobility or agility, those who are losing their memories, and all who have lost their grip on reality; for those who no longer trust in anyone, and those who doubt the love of God; for all who are caring for loved ones in illness.
Lord, be to them a tower of strength. Great are you, O Lord,
All: and mighty is your power.
Leader: We give thanks that Christ is our healer and our redeemer; he will not allow us to be lost.
We pray for loved ones departed who are renewed and refreshed in the love and light of God.
Lord, be to them a tower of strength. Great are you, O Lord,
All:

and mighty is your power.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
For you have brought everything into existence,
You are great and mighty in power,
Be our strength in times of weakness,
Uphold us when we are down,
Protect us at all times;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
