Twenty Sixth Sunday after Pentecost (Year A)
In this Bulletin ...
My Dear Friends,
Isn't it a secure feeling to be in the shelter of the Lord? One who is under his wings feels no fear. There is no terror that can afflict us. We so often get sucked into the national anxiety that threatens to overwhelm us. These anxieties are grounded in very real, everyday experiences of rising costs, traffic fatalities and murders. But when we know we are in his shelter; when we know Him to be our refuge, it is amazing the strength He gives us to persevere. The cloudy days are fleeting, the shadows of life do not make us hopeless, because "there breaks a yet more glorious day." Such is the confidence of the children of the day.
Last weekend was a very inspiring and encouraging experience. We found the atmosphere and discussions at the Annual Business Retreat quite electrifying. The whole life of the church was the focus of our reflections. We discussed four main areas, namely: Worship and Congregational Development; Outreach; Property; Finance and Administration. The sharing of both the former Rector and the incumbent in that experience touched us deeply. Their participation made us feel like one big family and suggested new possibilities for growth and change.
In addition to this wonderful experience, we also shared in the service for the inauguration of the Deanery of the Municipality of Portmore. This is the first time in quite a while since we have had such a service in the Diocese. It was a historic moment, which symbolized the beginning of a more extensive mission in our diocese. May we be servants who will make good use of these opportunities.
We extend a warm welcome to all those visiting with us today and
pray that our lives will be enriched as we experience God's abundant
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Where Eternal Streams Abide
WE NEVER KNOW WHERE GOD HAS HIDDEN HIS STREAMS.
